The Chosen Site

The group was split up into different groups from large to small, depending on what scale of building we wanted to work with.

The building chosen for the group I am in is a medium sized building at the intersection of E. Lindsay St. and Summit Ave. It is currently a 3 story apartment building called Hartmann at The Flatiron.

My intentions for the building are as follows depending on square footage.

~4-5 Bedrooms with bathroom (450 sq ft.)
office space (80 sq ft.)
Dining Room/Banquet Area (1500-1800 sq ft.)
Common Room (625 sq ft.)
Spa Area (400-500 sq ft.)
2-4 Beds & Sauna
Laundry Room (64 sq ft.)
one washer/dryer and a table

Picking a site

Our first assignment for studio was to go out and find a building that we would like to redesign and renovate for the Spring semester.

This is a house on Market Street closer to downtown Greensboro. I really like the style of this house and want to incorporate parts of it into my design.

This is a doctor's office. I wasn't really drawn into the building, but more the site. The location would be ideal for what I'm wanting to do. Below is the site.

My intention is to create a Bed & Breakfast.
